Futures Trading Weekly Video Update!
5 more straight days of “One and Done” Trading! Last week, our futures trading system had 4 one and done days! But it had 1 day we had losing trades! In fact we had 10 trades in 1 hour and came ahead 2 points after commissions.
I discuss a lot in today’s video about psychology, AGAIN! It’s so important. A week like we just finished is great, don’t get me wrong! We worked 1 1/2 hours this week, we have 5 points profit and it’s time to party all weekend, assuming of course that you party. I do not – I have kids 🙂 BUT this is a double edged sword! Let me explain: I’ll get a new student in my futures day trading course, he or she will see 2 weeks of “one and done” and say “OMG this is EASY – -I am starting live, and I am not trading 1 contract like ETS suggests, but I am trading 10”…. That’s where it falls apart. First, they simply are not ready to trade live after a couple of weeks! 2nd it’s always prudent to start with 1 contract when you go live. I could care less if you have a million dollar trading account!
If you can’t do it with 1, you can’t do it with 10, 20, 50.. .doesn’t matter. So get your feet wet with 1 contract after you are experienced in the system! Don’t be afraid to take several months to learn. Day Trading is a skilled profession! Think about the doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc. They go to school and study, practice, and learn for years! Trading is no different! It took me years to become relatively good at trading and even more years of trading (and blowing out trading accounts) to get really good at it.
The biggest thing I learned – don’t second guess the system you trade! Regardless of what trading system you use. If you believe in it, and believe in you – simply follow it and let the losers, emotions, frustration of losing trades simply roll off your back! Easier said than done for sure!! However, it’s crucial to be a successful day trader!!
